The purpose of this platform is to give users information regarding the different types of research opportunities available in universities and how to access these. This site also aims to address some of the main barriers and obstacles, particularly by people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
In addition to the above, it provides information about the different support mechanism that universities are implementing to address these in all aspects of research from pre application, during the application/assessment stage, during your time in research and finally, life post research.
Furthermore, it provides further details regarding some of the alternative sources of funding, which prospective researchers can access along with other initiatives available through a variety of charities and trusts. Finally, it also serves a purpose to highlight the inequities and widening gap in diverse research culture both in recruitment to research programmes, continuation and representation in academia for those from underrepresented groups.
